The Work Does Not End at Release Solution Evaluation and the BA as Guardian of Value

The Work Does Not End at Release Solution Evaluation and the BA as Guardian of Value

The Work Doesn't End at Release: Solution Evaluation and the BA as Guardian of Value

Go-live is often treated as the finish line, but the value a solution was meant to deliver is only realized after release. Business analysis doesn't stop at handoff; it continues into a formal, often overlooked discipline: Solution Evaluation.

This webinar explores Solution Evaluation as its own BABOK knowledge area, and why the business analyst's role extends well beyond delivery. Using the BACCM's emphasis on value as a core concept, we'll examine how BAs can close the loop between what was built and what was actually needed, and how that evaluation feeds back into strategy, making the work a continuous cycle rather than a one time deliverable.

What we will cover

- Why value lives after go-live: Understand the BACCM view of value as the central concept in business analysis, and why "shipped" doesn't mean "done."

- Solution Evaluation as a distinct discipline: Explore Solution Evaluation as a standalone BABOK knowledge area, with its own techniques, deliverables, and place in the BA's ongoing responsibilities.

- Technical success vs. real outcomes: Learn to distinguish "it works technically" from "it delivers the outcome we needed," and why teams conflate the two.

- Closing the loop back into strategy: Examine how evaluation findings should feed back into organizational strategy, turning delivery into a continuous improvement cycle.

- Recommending the next move: Understand the frameworks for deciding whether to enhance, replace, or retire a solution based on evaluation results.

This session is relevant for:

- Business analysts and BA leads

- Product managers and product owners

- Delivery and project managers

- Anyone responsible for post-launch solution performance

Participants will gain a clearer understanding of:

- Why Solution Evaluation deserves the same rigor as requirements and design

- How to distinguish technical success from delivered value

- Practical criteria for recommending enhance, replace, or retire

- How to build evaluation into ongoing strategy, not just a post-mortem exercise

FAQ
Why is CIGen in position to educate on software development processes?
+

Cigen.io is an established Azure consulting company, a Microsoft Solutions partner with over 7 years experience and 50+ talent-wise team.

Do I need to be a certified BA (CBAP/CBDA) to get value from this session?
+

Not at all. While Gunel will reference BABOK-aligned concepts, the session is built to be practical for anyone involved in post-release ownership, whether or not you hold a formal BA certification.

How does Solution Evaluation apply to AI agent development projects?
+

Great question, since this is a growing pain point. AI agent development introduces evaluation challenges that traditional software doesn't: success criteria can shift as the agent learns, and "working as designed" doesn't always mean "delivering value." We'll touch on how BAs can adapt evaluation frameworks (KPIs, feedback loops, performance baselines) to these newer, less deterministic solution types.
