UnMASK- A production oriented theatre workshop

A theater workshop is not just about learning how to act, but it's a discovery of our various selves. A FREE DEMO/ ORIENTATION WILL BE ORGANIZED ON THE 27th of January FOR INTERESTED PARTICIPANTS- Duration- 2 Hours from 4pm to 6pm. For more Details, our Terms and Conditions and Registration Form, please visit our Website: http://dramanonhyderabad.wixsite.com/unmask0219 WORKSHOP DETAILS: PART 1 SESSION 1: THE ICEBREAKER: 10 hours over 2 days (2nd & 3rd Feb, 2-7pm) This session begins with an introduction to theatre and the various components that hold it together: Scriptwriting, Direction, Set design, Lighting design, sound design etc. The would lead to a group interaction through various games/ exercises that would ideally break the ice between the various participants. It will also emphasize the following skill sets for an actor - Voice Modulation, Facial Expressions, Body Language, Public Speaking, and diction. SESSION 2: THE THINKING ACTOR: 10 hours over 2 days (9th & 10th Feb, 2-7pm) This session will emphasize on internalizing an emotion and explore different methods to express it. - Understanding Group Dynamics & Individual and Group Basics in the field of theatre. It will also explore various aspects of Performance. A series of Interactive Sessions and exercises will be done to build up trust within the group. PART 2: SESSION 1: EXPLORING THE BOUNDARIES: 10 hours over 2 days (16th & 17th Feb, 2-7pm) This session would explore the following – understanding acting through various schools of thought, for example, using Natyashastra and Navarasas, The Chekovian Immersive Acting and Stanislavsky Method Acting. Improvisation of plays, and working with scripts and understanding of the subtext. Bringing out emotions through painting, music, and dance, exploring body rhythms with percussion and other musical instruments. SESSION 2: BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL: 10 hours over 2 days (23rd & 24th Feb, 2-7pm) Application of the techniques learned by the participants and exploring their strengths and limitations as actors. This session will determine the plays and roles that each participant will perform. PART 3 SESSION 1: REHEARSALS: 15- 20 hours of interaction with the actors and their directors over 8- 10 days. This will be on both weekdays and weekends. This session will result in a series of short plays, devised, developed and eventually performed by the participants. Each of these plays will be directed by experienced people from Dramanon. SESSION 2: THE PERFORMANCE: 5 hours. With roughly a 90 minute performance by the participants in a single play or multiple short plays. The moment of truth for the various participants. All the hard work and learning will spill over on stage in front of a live audience. The performances will be held at Lamakaan or any other such venue. The event will be produced, organized and marketed by Dramanon Age group- 14- 50 The total duration of the workshop- 60 hours. WORKSHOP FEE- Only PART1- Rupees 4500 PART2- Rupees 4500 ( after completing part 2 ) PART3- Rupees 4500 ( after completing part 1 and 2) If the participant pays for both PART 1 & PART 2- Rupees 8500 If the participant pays for PART 1, PART 2 AND PART 3- Rupees 12,000 NOTE : Discounts for students below the age of 22. Workshop conducted by Mr. R.K Shenoy. About Mr. R.K Shenoy: Mr. Ramakrishna Shenoy is the founder of Dramanon in the year 2000 and is an Architect and Urban Planner by profession and has his own Architectural and Interior Design practice called aRKa.de. based in Jubilee Hills. He has directed and acted in numerous plays and has worked with many theatre groups. He has over 24 years of theatre experience. He is a voice-over artist, a singer, an avid photographer and also dabbles in sketching and painting. He has also appeared in documentaries, TV commercials, Serials and Films the latest one being ‘Lakshmi’ by Nagesh Kukkunoor. He has directed and acted in over fifty plays some of which have won awards and has conducted over 40 workshops for students, corporates, and children in Hyderabad, Manipal, Bhuvaneshwar, and Ahmedabad. His workshops have been conducted for Microsoft, DE Shaw, Trident hotels, L&T Serene county community, Film Nagar club, NCC Urban community, Loyola college, SVCA college, MAAC animation college, Manipal University, St Francis College, JNTU, Hyderabad and many more. He has participated in many theatre workshops some of which were conducted by Mr. Naseeruddin Shah, Rajat Kapur, Atul Kumar, Mr. Prasanna, Mr. Mahesh Dattani and Mr. Alok Ulfat. He has always been guiding budding directors and theatre artists in Dramanon across three cities namely Hyderabad, Manipal, and Bangalore.
